WOMEN DOCUMENTARY FILMAKERS NEEDED. WOULD PREFER LGBT WOMAN

Alright, the previous production call didn't turn out too well. So, let's get very detailed and back-to-basics.
I intend for this documentary to pertain to a certain sport; I can't get into too great of detail in this advertisment because the idea is too good. You'll just have to trust me on this one. It's going to be about some type of sport and it WILL be spectacular in quality and interestingness. It's best to discuss the details person-to-person possibly over lunch.

First off, let's discuss why i would prefer to work with a LGB or T woman:
1) I just do. (see my description below) And also because i've been working with the guys all my life and i feel should/must make a change. I've been surrounded by men all my life and it's just not for me. There's nothing wrong with men; I mean, who wouldn't like being surrounded by men all day? But it's just not for me; i'm different.
2) I feel that women, not just LGBT women may have a different approach towards filmaking and also due to the subject matter a woman on location will probably be better as far as interviewing the subjects in the film.
3)
4) i feel that if a woman accompanies me on site, it's like you are supporting me. Wheareas if a man came with me, it would be like "oh here's two guys trying to make a film." It will just "jive" better. It will be smoother. It will "feel" better. See women are by nature more nurturing/supportive, wheareas men are more competitive, action, action, action types. But you already knew that.

ABOUT ME AND THE PROJECT
For this documentary, i propose/intend to fill the role of director/producer as well as one of the main talents in the actual documentary although the documentary is not soley about me. Your role, primarily, would be mostly camera person AND interviewer. BUT, if you have good directorial or other creative input that is cool and welcomed. In fact, you could take over as director/producer. I'm loose. It's just that "on paper" i think, for now, i should be director/producer sort of. Or at least "executive" producer.

The project is a "reality" type documentary where there is plenty of dialog----from and between the subjects in the film, but the questions are edited out. The shooting for the project MUST be completed before it gets too cold for outdoor activity---that's a key ingredient for reality type docus--time deadlines. I am a former film/visual media student that won all the awards for my projects, so i sort of know what the hell i'm doing as far as making interesting and cozy projects. I'm not bragging, i'm just telling it like it is.

about me:
I'm basically a "male Kathy Griffin;" Real blunt but honest and open-minded. And, as Kathy prefers to be around gay men, i prefer to be around gay or bi women. (less pressure you see). I'm not real good over the phone (get too excited and then say something stupid) and have a distinctive (ray romano+kermit the frog)voice so it would be better to first communicate via e-mail, THEN move to the phone.
I do not look "hollywood" (nor do i care). But i tend to attract lots of attention wherever i go and that's one of the reasons why i think this documentary will be a sucess. Ken Burns annoys me,
and i dig Michael Moore and Errol Morris. i am also very neurotic. Not to the point where you wouldn't want to work with me, but more in a Woody Allen kind of way.

OK, i take it back; Ken Burns is alright. I'm watching "THE WAR" on PBS right now and you should too.

WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR /WHAT YOU SHOULD (HOPEFULLY)HAVE:

1)

2) Someone who has a (very) flexible schedule; This would be perfect for someone who is in between jobs, works partime/or is a freelancer/ or a student. It would be mostly daytime (daylight) hours M-F but probably weekends too for about 2 to 8 hours a day. Probably not 8 hours a day, but i'm just saying because you how it takes longer than you think to set up and get the right shots? Once we get into the swing of things, i'm sure it will go faster/smoother. Also, it would not nessesarily be EVERY day. It might only be 1,2 days per week depending on your/my schedules I will try to be flexible too.
Really, you tell me when you want to shoot.

2a) We might have to take daytrips to NYC, ocean city etc. MAYBE. This is not too likely, but possible. I would say as of today, 9/30, there is a 1% chance. If, in the event that it would require an overnight stay (again not likely) loging would be covered.

3) Someone who either has a good "prosumer" type camera. I.e., Cannon GL-1 or equivalent. OR has access to one. Actually 8mm would be or other film camera would b best. Do you know how to use one?

4) Someone who can stay organized; I.e., keeping all the footage and notes in chronological order.

5) A good interviewer. You don't have to be Barbara Walters, but basicaly someone who is not too shy. That's part of being a good documentarist, right?

6)Experience with Adobe Premiere or equivalent editing program(s). NOTE: If you do not wish to edit, that is fine, but the oportunity is there if you want to.

7) Experience with Stedicam helpful, but not essential; (Think Danny Torrence riding his bigwheel thru the hallways of the Overlook Hotel.) Yes, there will be some running/jogging involved, but not much. Plus, it will be good exercise anyways.

here is a video of one of the scenes that i was talking about: NOTE if you get scared easily don't click on it. Seriously, don't click on it; I mean i'm a virile male and it shouldn't scare me, yet somehow i'm scared to watch it.
If you do decide to watch it, notice how the camera seems to "float" behind danny. That's what stedicam is all about. I have one.

8) Last but not least, the most important ingredient is being open-minded and the willingness to go the extra mile to make this project awesome.

ADDITIONAL TASKS/ CONCERNS:

1) Knowledge and/or willingness to learn to draw up contracts between the producers(you+me) and the talent

2) Willingness and/or ability to find the talent for the documentary.

3) Willingness to make phone calls and handle light administrative work and to to research; If you are a "producer type" person, this would be a good thing.

4) Willingness to work outdoors most of the time; This includes moving around with the camera. And this might include some running or jogging. Not much though.

ABOUT THE $$$MONEY$$$ i thought you would never ask.

I really did not want to put this in here, but if i didn't, no-one would ever call. It should be about the project first and the money second. Anyways, here goes:

What is definitely guaranteed:
Food will be provided at each filming day(lunch---AND DINNER if nessesary). Also, a travel allowance (gas $$$) will be furnished. You do have a car i hope? (fingers crossed). If we have to go to NYC, Philly, OC or wherever and have to sleep over, that's covered.

NOTE: Only the above paragraph is guaranteed, for what you really wanted to hear about, please proceed.

NOTE: AS OF 11/6 i feel that it would be in everyone's best interests to discuss the financial stuff in person.

IN SUMMARY:

So, in sum i feel that this will be an awesome, exciting, project---the kind that you were glad you took a chance and became a part of. You'll probably meet new, interesting people possibly ones much like yourself.
But, we are running out of time; We are losing approx. one minute of sunlight per day. I'm not just saying this to try to get you to call, it's true----we really are losing about one minute of sunlight per day, just watch channel 4 with Bob Ryan. So, we really are, literally, running out of time and you/we need to act NOW. It's probably best to discuss everything over lunch.

Thanks for reading. Please make that call, now.
